Visit to The Gambia 23rd June – 3rd July
We take pleasure in posting these photographs of the most recent developments in allocation of donated goods within The Gambia.
Skill Centres
The Skills Centres supported were:-
Simma Vocational Centre Latrikunda Women’s Association Fire-fighters’ Wives Association The Association for the protection of Elders Abuse
Donations on this occasion were made up of IT training suites to replace aged typewrites as shown below. This teaches women IT skills. The sewing machines were donated to enable these young women to be self-sufficient. Tables and chairs were also provided for the classrooms. These centres also engage in literacy training, women’s health and care awareness issues.
Special Needs Methodist School
This is the only school in the entire country that caters specifically for children with special needs i.e. Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and a range of both physical and psychological difficulties.
This school is in desperate need of all forms of support. On this occasion we have supplied furniture, educational aids and sewing machines. This remains an ongoing project for GAFSIP.

The 15 Green Goddesses safely arrive in The Gambia during this time. Currently they are awaiting allocation to The Provinces where they will be kept at Local Government/ Government sites and crewed by volunteers for use in moving water around and supporting the operation of The Fire Service. The volunteers will be trained by The Gambia Fire and Ambulance Service. The capabilities of these vehicles will come into their own during the rains and the floods and at times of severe drought. Plus supporting Fire-fighters’ operations.
