Who are we?
We are Lynn and Carl, Mother and son team from the forest of Dean. Lynn is retired, but leads a very active life - loads of walking and social events and claims to be the oldest paddler on the river Wye. Carl is an outdoor activities instructor with a keen interest in all things with an engine.
What are we doing?
We are delivering a much needed Ambulance to The Gambia Fire and Ambulance Service. The vehicle was donated to GAFSIP by Wessex Ambulance Service to enable us to take part in the “Plymouth/Dakar/Banjul challenge”. We will be leaving Bristol on December 28th this year and should arrive in Banjul, The Gambia around 3 weeks later. The 3700 mile trip will take us across Europe, through Morocco and into the Sahara Desert, eventually travelling through Senegal to The Gambia.
Why are we doing this? (Good question!)
Well, we’ve done it before so thought we would have another go but in an Ambulance this time!! (It seemed like a good idea at the time).
A new dimension in recycling which benefits so many people.
The Local Authorities which donate these goods cannot contribute to the shipping costs. This is where GAFSIP comes in. It raises funds purely to cover shipping costs – there are no administration costs and all time and work is given voluntarily. This unique partnership is celebrating 15 life changing years, this year.
Please, we need your help !!!! ie. Your money
There are a number of ways that you can sponsor us.
- A cheque payable to GAFSIP (RALLY) (Please put your address on the back for a receipt)
- Sponsor us per mile or just a total amount.
- Hold a fund raising event which we will come along to with “The Landy” and a fire engine.
- Sponsor us on the internet at www.justgiving.com
How can we help you?
- We will put your name or logo on the vehicle and on the GAFSIP website.
- We will be pursuing a broad press coverage giving you maximum publicity
- The prestige of supporting a unique and valuable charity where every penny makes a difference - with no administration costs and where all time and work is voluntary.
We will bear all the costs and pain! All we ask is that you consider a donation to GAFSIP
